Someone in Cape Coral may be having a considerably better week than the rest of us.
The Palm Beach Post reported that a Powerball ticket sold in Cape Coral won $1 million in the Aug. 12 drawing. The billion-dollar jackpot itself went to a single ticket sold in Illinois, while Florida was one of several states with a $1 million Match 5 winner.
So somewhere around Cape Coral, there may currently be a person casually going about their day with a piece of paper worth $1,000,000 sitting in:
- a wallet
- a glove box
- a kitchen drawer
- yesterday’s pants
- or underneath six Publix receipts
Cape Crazy Translation
Powerball:
“Congratulations, Cape Coral. Someone here won $1 million.”
Every resident:
“WHERE DID I PUT THAT TICKET?”

“I won the billion.”
Cape Coral:
“Nobody asked you.”
The winning numbers for the Aug. 12 drawing were 4, 26, 66, 67, 69 and Powerball 9.
So if those numbers look familiar, stop reading Cape Crazy for approximately 30 seconds and go check your ticket.
